anodyne

Ask me anything   submit pictures or things related to the game   In Anodyne, you explore and fight your way through nature, urban, and abstract landscapes and dungeons set in the dream world of the human Young, in order to uncover the roots of the manifestation of Young's dreams.

Anodyne explores the combination of 16-bit artistic and musical aesthetics with gameplay influenced by games such as Link's Awakening and Yume Nikki.

Anodyne is aiming for a early January 2013 release for Windows, Mac, Android, and Linux distros that can run Adobe AIR 2.6, via Desura, GamersGate and hopefully a few more.

Video Game Sex Donut: Catherine, Free Will and OCD →

    videogamesexdonut:

    **beware there are many spoilers**

Initially, the scantily clad lady on the cover of Catherine irked me. However, I was willing to give Atlus a chance at proving me wrong. I also wanted to give it a shot because most games, other than dating sims, so rarely deal with real relationship…

I needed to cool down on a commission I was working on, so I whipped this up in about an hour. It’s Rogue. A boss in Anodyne. She’s very upset about the cycle of life.
ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!?
(Doing a front view of this boss was really weird.)

Treasure of the Abandoned City Released →

    renegadesector:

Todd Luke and I have released the new installment of the Tales of the Renegade Sector series of Top-Down Action-Adventure games.

Play as Space Pirate Captain McCallery in his continuing quest for Laserbeard’s Treasures.  This journey takes him to the gates of an Ancient Abandoned City.  However, getting the treasure won’t be easy.  The city gates are sealed and the city surrounded by malevolent stone golems.  In his quest, the Captain will uncover the treacherous history of the city, and discover how it became abandoned.

The game is released with a pay-what-you-want model (min. $1), which will get you a standalone version that comes with the soundtrack and some nice bonus features like concept art.  There’s also a free ad-supported browser version available if you don’t want to pay.

Another Anodyne enemy. When I saw this guy the first time I was like “Wow! I love that design.” It uses a little something I call NES Black. It’s not a good or technical term, but it’s just this visually weird look NES games had from building so much based on the placement of black on the sprites.
Anyway, this guy is named Wall, and he’s pretty cool.

I’ve been watching JSmithOTI play through a couple things, Hotline Miami and the like, but then he played through a pretty and stylzed retro adventure game called Anodyne.

I really wanna play it. I’ll wait til it’s on steam and get the soundtrack pack with it. You guys should check it out.

ANYWAY, I saw this fella during the playthrough and he is cool as all hell. And felt like drawing him. honestly, a lot of the games enemies, dungeons, and general design sense are interesting and spot on, so I might do some more from this game.
BTW: He’s called the Manager.
